Otter Estuary 24th October (by Tony Patston)

This was a field outing and recruitment drive combined.  John had sent a letter to RSPB members in the Exmouth area.  We had a good turn-out with some 20 people turning up.

The weather started fine as we walked out to the mouth of the river.  However, as we started to move upstream it started to rain and the leggings came out for a number of our party.  This caused a partial improvement in the weather until we were about a mile upstream when the heavens opened and we saw some of the biggest raindrops ever.

However, it was an enjoyable outing and we saw some 25 species (we even recruited some group members)
